How Is It Already Summer?!

It's hard to believe how fast time flies. Just yesterday, I was snowboarding in the mountains and now I'm prepping for a family trip to Hawaii (shameless brag alert)! I remember the summers of my youth...the excitement, the anticipation, the long days in the sun. If I can capture just a tiny sliver of that, I'll be one happy girl!

NAMELY MARLY

I’ve been feeling somewhat stressed at work for the last few weeks…and sadly, that has had an effect on my personal life and downtime. My stress at work leads to exhaustion at home and the inability to extract myself from the couch. Sound familiar?

This has had an effect on my blog. I haven’t had much time to be witty, funny, or creative…and you don’t really want to read me dithering on and on and on about a stressful/boring life, so I’ve been silent for a few days.

The silence has led to writer’s block, which is NO BUENO. I was just about to go into a downward spiral when I got a lovely pingback today saying that Namely Marly had used one of my past posts about trying to do it all. It was like a slap in the face (a good one)!

Sometimes it takes someone else to use OUR OWN WORDS to make us snap out of the doldrums, huh?! Just thought I’d share and also point out that Namely Marly has a really fun blog that you should check out, too!

Thanks, Marly!!!

    I smiled a rueful grin as I was researching for Maine’s cocktail and found out the author of my favorite poem was a native of the state. Sounds like you’re another who can identify with this:

    My candle burns at both ends;
    It will not last the night;
    But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends–
    It gives a lovely light!

  2. Darlin, don’t sweat it. I know how you feel ! Whenever I’m tired, I’m never clever or funny, and I just want to sit on the couch, snack on comfort food, and watch brainless TV. We all get there, you are human, and just need to recharge. Take some time for yourself. So will you please go to Newport beach, sit there and read magazines, photograph the beach’s beauty, have some seafood and some white wine, then brag all about when you get back ? Thanks, I’d appreciate that. Gosh, I’m so selfish.

    You want to hear something funny? I was inspired to write the post you linked to because of something I read on your site…on a day when I was feeling stressed and overwhelmed. What you wrote (about giving up the need to be perfect) just stopped me in my tracks. Love, love LOVE your site! It’s inspirational in so many ways. Maybe the next time you’re feeling down, you can go read your own site. There’s some great stuff there! ;-) Marly

    PS. Thanks so much for your kind words about my blog. You’re too sweet!
