I Can't Sit Still

I don't know about you, but sometimes I get so excited about something new that I want to do ALL THE THINGS and do them RIGHT NOW! But I'm also in a season where I realize that slowing down and taking a breather is a good thing. It's Spring and the sun is shining here in Southern California...I need to remind myself to soak it in and experience renewal rather than just relish in the rush of daily life.

WHERE I BLOG

My friend Kate, the Centstational Girl, is having a linky party today on where we blog. And because I’d jump off a bridge if my friends were jumping, I’m linking up!

The photo to the right is my GIGANTIC home office. {smirk} Yes, the tiny shoebox that I call home does not have an office, nook, or even built-in. Rather, I have a corner of my bedroom where I do my blogging and run my photography business. It’s tiny, but it works.

When I initially decided to make this corner my office, I knew instantly that I wanted a mirrored desk. It had the degree of “bling” that I was searching for. I had a few options to choose from, but was STOKED to find this one for a killer deal at JC Penney of all places! They have a great furniture department and this desk was hand delivered.

The convex mirror came from Aaron Brother’s and the shelves came from Target. I HATE THOSE SHELVES. They were so challenging to hang properly, and man, they fell out of the wall about seven gabillion times as I was trying to hang them. The accessories came from all sorts of stores. I really love the vintage cameras and the bust. I renovated the chair as a part of another linky party last year – woo – and the iMac is my newest baby! I LOVE this sucker!!!

So, there you have it. I blog in the corner of my bedroom on a mirrored desk with my FABULOUS computer. It’s not flashy, but I couldn’t be happier.

Where do YOU blog???

Comments

  1. Your blogging spot is both pretty and cozy. I haven’t tried to hang shelves like yours, but I can see how they’d be a pain. Enjoy your new iMac baby!

  2. I love how simple and pretty it is!!

    xoxo

  3. I like your space a lot! I am impressed that you hung the shelves yourself…they look great despite the trouble they gave you.

  4. Interesting….we have a similar desk space 3000 miles away! Mine is a small desk with the same shelves hung above as well. And yes, I hate my shelves too!

Glad it’s a cozy and beautiful space/place to blog and work!

    Miss you!

  5. Jen, I love your little desk space. It might be small, but it’s very stylish!

  6. Ooooh bling. Me likey. Thanks so much for linking up today my friend. Holding hands and jumping with you!

  7. Looks like a great way to make use of a small space! :-)

    • Ah, thanks friend! A friend recently offered me a larger desk and I was like “hey, I LOVE my mirrored desk!” Wouldn’t change it for anything…except maybe a whole office. Ha!

  8. Well now, when I glanced at that monitor, I HAD to fly on in and take a better peek! I just got the same computer system and was curious as to what others were doing with that HUGE monitor.

I sunk mine lower into my own home office desk to save my neck! LOL But the machine is simply magnificent, isn’t it?!?

Your blogging area is so unique and gorgeous! The glitz really pulls it together.

    Here’s my iMac’s place to hang… http://funkyjunkinteriors.blogspot.com/2010/08/palette-desk-project-part-6-big-reveal.html

    • Really interesting idea to sink the monitor! I’m pretty tall and feel like I’m at the right height distance to mine, but if I wasn’t, I don’t think I ever would have come up with that. SO clever!

  9. I love your little nook. And that mirrored desk…luh-huv it. Thanks for visiting me. Hope you don’t mind me popping in once in awhile too.

  10. Tiny, compact, very cool desk = happiness! Love it!

  11. Love your mirrored desk! Your nook is functional, cozy, and cute. What more could a girl ask for?

  12. Mrs. QM3 says:

Those shelves from Target are horrible…I’ve had bad luck with mine, and they put huge holes in my wall, and wouldn’t even sit straight. They are a cheaper price, but not worth the hassle. Home Depot has some nice ones that aren’t too badly priced.

    • I just got the four foot shelf at Home Depot. It is hands down the greatest shelf I’ve ever worked with…and it’s stylish and CHEAP!

  13. I love your little corner, love the mirror desk. And I spy a Michael Jackson picture there:-)…Christine

    • Michael Jackson? No…are you thinking of the Wicked program? A friend played Glinda on Broadway and I got to go see her perform. She signed the program, so I keep it out for inspiration!

  14. OOO girl, that mirrored desk is spectacular! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  15. If it’s going to be small – you definitely did it right! I always love convex mirrors!

  16. What a nice spot…love how you have it all assessorized and cozy…very nice!

  17. Always a treat to see on the other side of all the posts! Thanks for sharing.

  18. Ooooo, love the black and white color coordination! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment! I smile whenever I see your blahg title! Hilarious!

  19. Your small space is big on style. I love the glam table along with the black and white. Looks like a beautiful corner to me.
