VISITING BROOKLYN

I’m visiting Mrs. Limestone today with a guest post on my favorite nook. I freaking wish I was actually AT her house. Stefanie’s blog is truly one of my favorites on DIY, home design, and flat out creativity. I wish I had an ounce of her creativity and skills and if I could buy ANY home fully furnished, I’d pick up and move to Brooklyn. ; )

So, before you jump over and visit A Brooklyn Limestone in Progress, any guesses what my favorite nook in my house is???

For those of you visiting from Stefanie’s site, thanks for coming by! I’m a So Cal girl who works hard to turn her condo into a castle, all while working full-time as a public affairs professional with a photography business on the side. In the meantime, I like to entertain, spend time with family and friends, and drink copious amounts of wine!

AWESOME

I once had a pastor who chastised society for using the word “awesome” all too often. He claimed that the true sense of the word should be saved for miracles, such as the Resurrection. As an avid user of slang, I was temporarily annoyed by his sermon, then upon reflection, I realized he was right.

Good Friday is my favorite service of the year. Yes, it’s solemn, but totally filled with hope. As I sit in worship, all too aware of my flaws and sins, I’m so grateful for that truly awesome act. He died (and then was raised) for me…and for you, too. How awesome is that?!

For those of you who haven’t seen Jeremy Cowart‘s A Portrait of Christ, this is a must see. Jeremy is a killer commercial photographer who has worked with celebrities all over the world. He also has given back by creating Help Portrait, a worldwide movement of photographers using their time, equipment, and expertise to give back to those less fortunate. He is an artist and a Believer and this is one of the most visually moving things I’ve ever seen!

NEW HAIR & ANOTHER OOTD POST!

Remember how I tweeted earlier this week about my haircut? Well, I’m finally posting images! I ran up to LA on Saturday afternoon to see my favorite hair stylist who I’ve been seeing off and on for almost 13 years. Whenever I decide to do something drastic, he’s the only one I’ll go to. I lost him when he left the OC for LA, then found him once again through Facebook…ya, seriously.

I have SUPER thin hair. As a result, a bad haircut can make me look BALD. To my shock, my hair had grown pretty long over the last few years, but I’d grown pretty dang bored. It hung long and stick straight for too long and when I arrived on Saturday, I told him to do whatever he wanted! And I’m so glad that I did!!! I now have some swoopy side bangs and my hair is 5 inches shorter, but still long enough to wear in a ponytail!

When I left the haircut, I headed to a party and I got so many compliments, that I decided it was time for another Outfit of the Day post!

Lately, I’ve been into gold jewelry (like everyone else), and have been collecting a few pieces here and there. For this look, I clumped a few different genres together and it seemed to work. Who knew that bling and spikes went together?! I bought the racerback tank in the Brass Plumb section of Nordstrom on a recent lunch break. It was my first time in that department in YEARS! I couldn’t believe how affordable things were…it’s just too bad that I have to wear a L! Ha! Regardless, I loved the color and look of the tank and had to have it.

Look ma, new hair!

Gold earrings – random jeweler. Racerback tank – Nordstrom. Straight leg jeans – Banana.

Gold bangle – Nordstrom. Spike bracelet – Noir Jewelry. Long necklace – Loemanns. Short Hot Chick necklace – gift.

Gold ring – Nordstrom. Handbag – Luciana Verde (found this at Loemann’s and can’t find anything about it online…it totally looks like Foley and Corinna, huh?!)

I ran by my friend Ashley‘s (it’s good to have photographer friends close by), handed her my camera and spun around a few times. As I’ve said before, I really admire people who do WTWW and OOTD posts and have been thinking about doing them for a while. I did one and liked it, but after posing in Ashley’s backyard for ten minutes, I started to feel silly. And THIS is when I began to stop taking myself seriously!
