I am SO excited to have the bathroom remodel finished!!! While I was in Hawaii, the lion’s share of the work was completed and when I returned, I had a gorgeous new restroom and a house FULL of construction dust. : )
The most important things for me with this remodel were: 1) the tub and 2) preserving resale value.
Being that this is a shoebox of a condo, I know this isn’t my forever and ever home. Nothing I’ve done to improve this house is ultra-personal…the projects have to reflect my taste, but still be widely enjoyed by many. My kitchen was neutral and I intended for my bathroom to be the same.
I really like the soothing and spa-like tones of grey paint. I found a wall color I liked and a wonderful accent tile at the DalTile Showroom in Anaheim. I was shocked how long it took me to decide (especially, since I’m an impulse shopper and snap decision-maker by and large), but I was pleased that my dad was able to hook up a contractor discount! The subway tile was also really affordable and next came the tub. My dad found me the PERFECT soaker tub that would retail for FAR MORE than a normal condo dweller should spend, but again, he worked his magic and got a “deal.” All I know is that the sides are WAY high and when I took my first bath in it, I was fully submerged with it only halfway full. YAY!!!
I found everything, but then couldn’t leave out the lighting. I didn’t realize there were so many exhaust fan/lighting options, and many at really affordable prices, too. I found one that went well with the scheme and cost less than $100. BONUS!
I love to take long baths and I knew it would be controversial, but I definitely did not want a shower door any longer. Having a place to rest my arms and enjoy a long leisurely soak meant a lot to me and I’m THRILLED with my decision. I don’t regret it one bit! I got a convex shower rod to give me more room while showering and I don’t miss the glass doors, at all!
I’m SO THANKFUL to my mom and dad for making this remodel possible. It was the biggest Christmas surprise and I am so thankful for your spirit of giving and knowing just what I’d want. You mean the world to me and I LOVE YOU!!!

Looks great!
Would you be willing to share the name of the tub model & dimensions? I’m about to re-do the bath in my 1950s ranch and I want a soaker but not sure which ones to consider. This one has the perfect ‘look’ – the panel is beautiful.
That is a Kohler Bancroft alcove tub. We plan to put it in our upcoming bathroom remodel. How do you like it?
Classic and gorgeous my friend, how wonderful to come home to such a pretty ladies room! Miss you friend, when will I see you? I’m coming to San Diego in June, taking the kiddos to Legoland and spending a few days at the beach! Would love to meet up for lunch with you!
