35 BY 35: #6

This one won’t shock anyone…it’s like a typical resolution! And I’m well on my way to completing it. I’ve been working on healthy eating habits for a while now and feel like I’m finally getting the hang of it!

#6 – Lose 10 Pounds

When I was in my mid 20s, I dropped a ton of weight on the Dub Dub. It wasn’t fun, but it wasn’t all that difficult. I was about 14 pounds lighter than I am now and I was really able to maintain that weight loss until the campaign. If I lose 10 pounds from where I am now, I figure it will be a happy weight…not just a skinny weight. And let’s face it, the last time I did this, I was 8 years younger.

I just want to end my constant dieting cycle. I know that eating healthily is a lifestyle, but I don’t want to be consumed by losing weight any more.

I also don’t want to cram for a wedding, worry about losing weight before starting a family, and stress about how much harder it will be to lose weight when I turn 40!

And that’s all I have to say about that…onwards!

WIWW: A NIGHT OUT IN VEGAS

The Whine Club celebrated the 30th birthday of one of our members in Vegas last weekend. I wouldn’t really say that I’ve spent much time “going out” in years, so finding the appropriate outfit for a night on the town gave me heart palpitations. Ultimately though, I found two that I’d feel comfortable being seen in and now I’m looking forward to future nights NOT spent on my couch with my boyfriend TiVo!

After a day spent lounging in/by the pool or whooshing around Mandalay Bay’s lazy river, we got all dolled up and headed to the Cosmopolitan for drinks at The Chandelier and dinner at Scarpetta. The Chandelier was super sexy and we all enjoyed the details and 2-3 million crystals that it took to create. Scarpetta was absolutely one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. From the bread (that had salami and cheese baked inside of it – YUMMMMMMMMM), to the appetizers from Heaven, to the main courses, everything was first class. We also had a table up close to the windows were we could watch the Bellagio’s fountains. The birthday girl’s parents brought a cake and they served it up for us, too. First class service, first class meal, and a first class night altogether. After dinner, we went back to the Mandalay Bay and hit up the Ice Bar. It was a silly and fun experience. After that, we did a little dancing…it was the perfect night.

I felt comfortable, sexy, fashionable, and sophisticated. So even if I didn’t look perfect, I felt great! And isn’t that what it’s all about????

I DID IT!

35 BY 35 #1 has been accomplished!!! I’ve had the bottle of dye for about a week now and I finally pulled the trigger to give it a try. My friend Barbie was over today and we were watching a movie and I decided just to go for it! As you can see below, I was SUPER nervous. Turns out, I didn’t need to be!

The color is pretty similar to what I’ve had all along – a reddish brown – but just a little warmer in tone than I’ve previously had. I did a good job of applying the foam over my greys in front, but could have been a little more careful on the sides. Those greys stay covered for the most part due to my natural hair style, but I’ve definitely learned a lesson for next time!

My hair smells really nice, didn’t fall out like I was sort of afraid, and feels really soft and not terribly processed. I’d say that’s a pretty darn good turn out for my first try at home hair care. : )

For the record, my hair is not styled…just blow dried. I couldn’t wait to see the end result!
