I should have made this a goal at the beginning of the summer, but since this is So Cal, I still have plenty of time.

#12 – Outdoor Entertaining

I have an amazing deck that has changed quite a bit over the last 8 years, but one thing remains true…I’m RARELY out there. It’s quite stupid…

I grew up with a family who spent loads of time outdoors. In fact, I’ve entertained quite a few times over the years at my childhood home, but I’ve only ONCE had friends hang out on the deck with me.

I’ve got a beautiful tree that provides shade and breeze, a nice view of the tomfoolery in the pool (my neighbors must think this is South Beach), and there’s a little greenbelt where people walk their dogs right below me. It’s a nice outdoor space and it’s about time I shared it with the people I care about!

And maybe while I’m out there, I can suck it up and start practicing #7…ya, that’s right. I’ve totally failed at my weekly goal and I’ve got no excuse for it!

FLIRTING & BUSYNESS

I haven’t been blogging much because I’ve been busy flirting…that’s totally cool, right?!

In other news, it’s going to be another busy week because:

1) my boss has forgotten to take her anti-crazy pills

b) the Gentleman Caller is coming back into town for about 24 hours and I want to squeeze in as much quality time with him as possible

iii) I’m going to try stand up paddling in the ocean on Sunday afternoon (thinking that might count as kayaking/#11)

IV) I’m going to run/walk in the Conquer the Bridge Race on Monday morning…ya, I’m CRAZY!

5) I’m hosting the Cheeseburger Throwdown (and pool party) on Monday afternoon and I haven’t perfected my winning recipe.

It’s a twofer, folks. Yes that’s right, today you get 2 35 By 35 goals for the price of 1!!! Act now, and you may be eligible for free shipping.

So, I was recently on my pal Leigh’s site and saw her birthday goals. They’re much more colorful and creative than mine. Probably because if you put some colored pencils or pens in my hands I start to just make squiggles. Seriously, my sister got all of the artistic genes in the family…maybe I should add take an art class to the list?!?!

Back to my 35 By 35…I initially wanted to do these two things this summer as they’re both water related and I typically like spending time in or near the water when it’s warm out. Thankfully, we here in So Cal have long Indian summers! (PS – who remembers this movie?)

#10 – Rent a Duffy Boat and Go For a Sunset Booze Cruise

If you’ve never done this before and you live in So Cal, you’re missing out on a really fun social activity! It’s like a picnic in a boat! Duffy Boats are little electric boats that seat about 8 people. There are a number of places in the marina areas that offer rentals and you don’t have to be an experienced boatsman/woman to operate one. I LOVE getting a fun group together, taking hors d’oeuvres and and good wine, and enjoying fun conversation while looking at all the big boats and houses around Newport!

#11 – Go Ocean Kayaking

My little sister has done this a few times and I’ve always been jealous! Not only does kayaking seem like a fun thing to do, but a total workout, too!!! And because it’s been a pretty summer, I’ve seen a bunch of photos on FB of other people getting into it, as well. I’m not just gonna look at those pictures and think, hey that looks fun. Instead, I’m going to invite my sisty out for a sister date and go do it!
