So, the Annual Waterskiing and Winetasting Weekend Extravaganza (AWaWWE IV) has come and gone again and I’m sitting here wishing I was still up at the lake! Each year, our group of random friends and family has a better time than the last and as we keep getting older and passing more milestones, new and wonderful memories are made!
The So Cal group arrived in Paso around noon, grabbed lunch, did some grocery shopping, then headed up the hill to Nacimiento. We hit the lake for a few hours, then had dinner and sacked out. When we woke up the next morning, my Sacramento friends had arrived, but were still drained, so only a few of us did the morning run.
As the lone skier, I always have to get up early and hit the glass first. The air was frigid, but the water was 20 degrees warmer, so jumping in was alright. Getting back into the boat was chilly, however!!! I posted these pics and more on FB and a family friend noticed my ski right away. I’m pretty sure he bought it for himself about 20 years ago and I still use it! The gloves are probably just as old and I tore them up so badly, that I REFUSE to use them again next year!!! Dad, take note!
My sister’s boyfriend and my dad have become good buddies. When Justin was in the water trying to land a 360 on the wakeboard, my dad whispered that he was going to see how fast he could go before Justin let go. He quickly figured out my dad’s game and kept giving the signal for faster, faster. We got him up to 40 mph before deciding to give his arms a rest!
My Sacramento friends are all still involved in politics and public affairs, which means that vacations don’t really mean shutting down 100%. Sometimes the reception is best on the lake, so this was Julie’s office for a while!
After a couple of days of waterskiing, we hit the west side of Paso – DELISH!!! The other Julie celebrated her 26th birthday and got some special treatment at Justin, Tablas Creek, Halter Ranch, Opolo, and Turley!

Me and my Sac girls…why does my eye makeup look so weird here???
After winetasting at Justin in the wine club member’s cave, we went outside for a picnic. I wrote my initials on a banana (got to stake out your territory!) and the sister’s bf scribbled them out. As you can probably tell, we get a little crazy at AWaWWE!
My dad had some car trouble and while he was using the phone at Halter Ranch to call AAA, he decided to test out his skills at pouring wine! : )
Sisters, sisters, there were never more devoted sisters…
Part of the fun changes that come from doing an annual trip are seeing the way things change and grow. This year, we had a new addition…baby Henry! He really liked the wineries. ; )
After a day full of winetasting, then breaking into a few bottles at dinner, we celebrated Julie’s birthday. At one point, I turned to this guy and said “no offense, but has anyone ever told you that you look like a unicorn?” I think his wife might have peed a little…
Last morning on the lake…it was a sad feeling, but it cemented our need to return again next year!
I think Henry is especially excited to come back again!
So, what about you? Do you do any annual trips with family and friends??? I highly recommend it!

Love the pics! I can’t believe you are the only one who skis! So much fun!
Yes, everyone else just wakeboards!
That looks like so much fun! My husband and I are finally getting to ski this weekend. Unlike you, I’ll need to use two.
OMG, I haven’t waterski’d in years! Your trip looks like so much fun.
Time to plan something like that myself.
Jo
So fun! Thanks for sharing your pics with us. LOVE that silvery top you’re wearing in one of the pics!
