We had the cheeseburger throwdown on Monday and there were five burger entries. The photo below shows me presenting my “Oinking Cow” recipe to the judges.
I lost and I lost big.
My friend Barbie has suggested that I stop going so gourmet and start entering traditional dishes and I think she’s right. If you remember the Mac N Cheese Throwdown, I made lobster mac n cheese, spent a BOATLOAD of money, and yet, it didn’t win either.
So here’s how I made my Oinking Cow: 1/2 ground beef, 1/2 ground pork, green chilis, panko bread crumbs, salt and pepper, worcestershire sauce. In the middle of the patty, I added a mixture of shredded pepperjack cheese, bacon, and onions sauteed in bacon grease. I served it on a yummy bun with romaine lettuce and ketchup. I thought it was rich and delicious, but it didn’t rule the day.
REGARDLESS, we had a great time, ate some interesting burgers, and spent Labor Day by the pool with friends. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day!

Above all, the name OINKING COW for a burger is just divine and super bril. You might have lost on taste, but you won on name. Lovessssssssssss it!
Your burger sounds delicious! I don’t know what the other contenders were but I definitely would have enjoyed your concoction.
Well it is ok that your burger didn’t win, you looked so good making them. I can really tell a difference in your arms how much the working out has paid off. No wonder you need new clothes! So encouraging to see that hard work does pay off.
