NAILS

For the last ten years or so, I haven’t worn nail polish. From 8th grade through college, I had acrylics, but after a while, I was too exhausted to get them filled. So, I ripped them off. At that point, I found Sally Hansen’s Tough as Nails and applied it like crazy and for the first time, my nails grew. I now have crazy long nails that I don’t let anyone touch or file!

Yes, I’ll get my nails manicured, but I absolutely will not let anyone file them. As a result, I haven’t really spent much time with manicured or colored nails because I’m too lazy to learn to paint them myself!!!

Yesterday, I ran into a beauty supply store at lunch time and found a neutral color that I’ve been wanting to try out. I grabbed it, then on an off chance, I asked for a recommendation for a lightening fast drying top coat. The recommendation was right on!!!

Out the Door top coat is freaking awesome. Check it out sometime!!!

PS – my hand is wrinkly (ya, I photoshopped it)…and OTD has no clue who I am – this post is just a friendly PSA!

Thanks for the suggestion! I have tried several “quick” dry top coats, but just got tired of buying them because they never seemed to work.

I’ve never worn acrylics (except for Miss Lee Press-on Nails when I was little- do those count? Oh, they don’t?)(And seriously, how did you wear them for that many years??) but other than that, we’re nail twins. I tell people all the time I’m not worthy of my long fingernails because I refuse to paint them. It just chips right away and that irritates me. But also I like the look of my long nails. However, a week ago I bought OPI’s You Don’t Know Jacques, the first polish purchase I’ve made in a few years because keeping my toenails painted doesn’t require that much. I wanted a good fall shade though so I caved. And then I thought, what if I painted my fingernails too? So I actually cut them short and painted them. Even though there are a few chips here and there, it looks pretty dang good. I probably won’t keep it up but it was a nice change.
