Spring Has Sprung

I love how the sun stays out longer, how colorful flowers are in bloom, and how everyone I seem to know is preggo. The vineyards bubble with activity, neighbors spend more time socializing outdoors, and how my favorite bloggers seem to have a renewed purpose these days. Don't you?!

DOWN TIME

The four days in the desert were really good for me.

Recovering from the sinus bug, I had little energy for about two weeks, but I was excited to get up early and drive out to meet my family. I didn’t know what our plans entailed, but I packed cozy outfits and exercise clothes…little did I know that I’d need shorts and a bathing suit.

On Thursday afternoon, we pigged out like everyone else, then gravitated toward the coach to watch bad tv. I had my kindle app ready to go with mindless reading…and that’s about all I did for the next few days.

In between meals, sleeping, one round of golf, a movie and two hours of shopping on Black Friday, I relaxed and read…and that’s it.

My body told me I needed to slow down and allow it to fully recover. Racing around malls, exercising, and playing tennis would have been fun, but it wasn’t what I needed.

Down time was what the doctor ordered.

And yet, having my parents, sister, and her bf, there to keep me company when I came up for air or to make me laugh when something silly happened were the perfect additions to the me time I had claimed. The conversations, the laughter, the goofing off in the hot tub all became the background soundtrack to the weekend.

Any outsider would look in on the weekend and think HOW BORING, but I look on it as being perfect and fun.

Oh, it’s just been during the last few years, but I’ve started to realize I have the most fun when life is “boring” and not scheduled out. It’s during those down moments when I relax and enjoy the most.

Ok, and speaking of fun. Your header cracks me up and makes me want to be your friend at the same time. Love the drill!

  7. This doesn’t sounds boring at all. I would have loved the downtime.
