How do you top your tree?
Do you have a tradition in your family or did you just find something you liked?
Did you make your tree topper yourself?
Did you go outside the box and do something totally different?
I’m just curious about how and why people do certain things.
My mom has always been an angel person…we had a few different versions while I was growing up. One glowed, another had a porcelain face and looked like a Madam Alexander doll, one was just creepy.
When I moved into my place and started decorating for Christmas the way I wanted to (LOTS of sparkle and bling), I randomly found a gold star that was super glittery. I bought it because it fit my theme and was inexpensive…and that was it. I truly gave it no thought, but I know some people have strong opinions about one or the other. I hope it doesn’t make me shallow for just getting something that matched! : )
So, now it’s your turn…tell me about your tree topper!
Our tree is decorated in a “drunken monkey” theme: wooden monkey ornaments and cocktail/wine themed ornaments, so I perch one of my Curious George plushes at the top of the tree with an appropriately-sized wine glass in his hand. It’s irreverent, sure, but it suits us
Trust me it is okay not to put “much thought” into it. haha… guess what our topper is? It’s a baseball that my husband drilled a hole into that says Merry Christmas! Not much thought at all. I decorated for Xmas two weeks ago (would have been earlier but I was recovering from surgery) and I don’t do Xmas tree toppers. I never have ever found one I truly liked. But, I am sorta digging yours and might re-think my decision!
I get into the Christmas spirit pretty early. The parental units decorated the weekend of Halloween. Totally normal.
We have a star on our tree but it’s too small and I need to get something else — I’m gonna see what I can find at after-Christmas sales.
I left it empty and my husband keeps sneaking silly things like toilet paper tubes there.
