HOLLYWOOD HOUSEWIFE’S SOIREE AT BLUSHINGTON

Last night, Hollywood Housewife hosted a soiree at Blushington, a fab new makeup/skin care lounge in West Hollywood. Right next to The Dry Bar, it’s got the same recipe for beauty success. $35 gets you a fab new look and last night, while being introduced to the blogger community, Blushington gave us the opportunity for quick makeovers!

Now, I’m no makeup diva. In fact, I described myself last night to another blogger as “vanilla.” Having a conservative corporate job doesn’t give me many opportunities to play dress up. But I’m sure that’s just an excuse. Growing up, I only wore lipstick and mascara. After having been sucked in my makeup counter girl at Nordstrom last year, I thought I was doing better…my bank account tells me I should be every time I stock up!

I decided to do a before and after shot tonight and I gasped when I saw my before. I look AWFUL and this is right after work. People I respect, admire, and spend hours with each week saw me looking like this. Oy vey!

why didn't anyone tell me it was time to dye the greys away?

Thankfully, after a few minutes with Alyssa, I looked far less like a corpse! She was great…I’d highly recommend her. When I told her I didn’t care to look like a tranny street walker (as many makeup artists like to do), she said she knew just what products to use and walked me through every step of the way. Also, she gasped out loud when I told her I was 35. ; )

And I loved the result!

no more corpse!

Not only did I love my artist, but I LOVED the salon, too! Blushington is truly a gorgeous salon and the interior designer who designed the shop should come to my house immediately!

I’ve got to thank HH for setting this event up and for inviting me (even though they clearly should have doubted my heartbeat and instructed me to stay outside the door). I loved chatting with the network of bloggers there…especially meeting Peeved Michelle and Blogless Shandi (a twitter friend!).

we had a riveting conversation about hair removal ; )

start a blog, Shandi!

I really loved catching up with “old friends” like Rachel and my cousin Carlee, who with three sons, eagerly agreed to join me at this girly event!

her blog reminds me how NOT creative I am and inspires me!

cousin and one of my best friends!!!

Such a wonderful night, capped off with an uber fabulous goodiebag. Thanks again, HH…you’re a pretty special party thrower…and a pretty special gal!

I still can’t believe we didn’t cross paths, too funny! It was a great night – I only wish I could somehow freeze my eye makeup the way Emma did it. No luck.

I know! It’s such a small world (online and IRL), and yet finding the people you’ve interacted with on twitter or purchased things from (ahem), isn’t as easy as you’d think. I’m glad we have another shot at it on Saturday!!! : )

  5. I didn’t think you looked terrible “before” AT ALL! You’re naturally gorgeous.

Thanks for coming to the party – I always think it’s fun to meet up with online friends, even if I was running around like a crazy person most of the night and barely talking to anyone.

    :)
