Last night, my pal Clare and I met up for a walk. Inspired by our friend Jennifer who has been on a workout kick lately, we decided to get together and walk. After her kids were put to sleep and after I had made it home from my commute, we met up to walk out our week’s stresses and burn some calories.
We hauled buns and just about walked four miles in one hour. We talked about big things like church and God and little things like planning to play tennis together. It wasn’t an easy walk, but it was an easy time spent in each other’s company.
And that’s when I realized that while the speed walking might have been burning calories, it was also building memories and growing a friendship.
