Spring Has Sprung

I love how the sun stays out longer, how colorful flowers are in bloom, and how everyone I seem to know is preggo. The vineyards bubble with activity, neighbors spend more time socializing outdoors, and how my favorite bloggers seem to have a renewed purpose these days. Don't you?!

WORSHIP ON THE WATER

Rather than go to church like we would on a normal Sunday morning, my family decided to be spontaneous and run out to a nearby lake to test out the boat and get in a couple of ski runs. We’re not doing our usual ski trip in August and I’m not sure if I’ll get much boat time in this summer, so I was up for it, in spite of the 6:15am departure time.

I really like my family. Hanging out with them is always fun and when we get to do something we all equally enjoy, like waterskiing or wakeboarding, it’s an even better treat.

We were out on the water by 7am and all took a couple of turns behind the boat. We had glassy water for a couple of solid hours and left by 9:30am. My dad decided he wanted to ski for the first time in years; he had back surgery a couple of years ago and quite frankly, I think we were all a little nervous. I got in the driver seat and pulled him out of the water on his first go…we didn’t need to worry, afterall!

I mentioned something about wanting to send a tweet about going to church on the water this morning, but then then opting not to because I was worried someone might be offended. But my conservative mom said something like, hey, we’re enjoying God’s beautiful creation this morning! And I decided right then and there that she was a smart cookie!

It was a great morning and I hope we have far more spontaneous lake trips like this one before the end of the year!

I think enjoying God’s creation is a wonderful way to worship. Heaven doesn’t stop because we aren’t in a pew. ;)

I am so impressed with you and your family’s water skiing ways. Church absolutely happens amid God’s creation. My deepest sympathies to anyone who has never experienced it and refuses to understand that truth.

  4. I have to say as someone who is DEFINITELY a nature-inspired worship-type, this just makes my heart sing. What a beautiful way to experience and enjoy God’s creation!
