Spring Has Sprung

I love how the sun stays out longer, how colorful flowers are in bloom, and how everyone I seem to know is preggo. The vineyards bubble with activity, neighbors spend more time socializing outdoors, and how my favorite bloggers seem to have a renewed purpose these days. Don't you?!

I love to entertain, cook for, and host friends in my home. As I’ve said many times before, I don’t have a large home, but rather a wee condo…but it’s my castle.

I don’t have a formal dining room or a sitting room and my kitchen is not hidden away where I can stash dirty dishes and transfer yummy foods to pretty serving dishes without anyone seeing my mess.

No, it’s a small space and an open concept.

But I love it nonetheless.

I love that when I’m finishing dinner and opening a bottle of wine, I’m surrounded by my guests, for they fuel me more than the food.

When I bought the condo ten years ago, I didn’t know I’d evolve into this person. I had NO idea I’d enjoy being in the kitchen so much. Let’s be honest, I didn’t know I’d one day be able to cook a meal that didn’t come straight from a freezer bag.

There’s a small ledge opening into my kitchen – it’s a mini bar. I was given two stools when I moved in as housewarming gifts and for ten years, they’ve sat there. But only for the last few years that I’ve really loved cooking and entertaining have they been used. I finish the meal, chat with my friends, and we all munch on appetizers while they perch on those seats. They were a great gift…but they lacked a little style and started to look worn.

Not too long ago, I indulged in my obsession with One Kings Lane and purchased a pair of new stools. They are as evolved in style as I am in my cooking. They are an invitation to sit and stay awhile. They are comfortable and beautiful and I hope, a part of the experience you’ll find in my home.

Like em???

Where do your guests end up when you’re finishing dinner?

    The stools look stunning!

  2. I love those stools! And I’m shopping for some! We have two right now that came with the house. (The owners didn’t live here, so they bought some stools for staging purposes and generously let us have them.) But I need four. Keep your eyes out for me.

And for the record, I’ve owned many homes with formal dining rooms, but I’ve decided they aren’t me. I love to entertain, but I’d much rather have my friends in the room with me, with the chaos and mess and laughter. A big kitchen is much preferred.

those are cute! makes me want an island or some area to put stools myself!
in my house everyone ends up in the kitchen sitting in the window seat (the ladies) while the guys perch in front of the TV watching whatever game happens to be on.
In our next home I want an open concept kitchen/living area so everyone can be all cozy and enjoy the process as well as the final product!

I love those! Wish I could come over tonight and test one of them out.

I don’t have a dining room or kitchen table so my guests usually sit at the counter/bar while I finish things up or in the living room. It’s an open concept and also a small space so it works. I really enjoy having everyone near by while I’m cooking.

  5. Ooooh I love those!!!
We rarely have guests and when we do I only serve dessert. :)
