Spring Has Sprung

I love how the sun stays out longer, how colorful flowers are in bloom, and how everyone I seem to know is preggo. The vineyards bubble with activity, neighbors spend more time socializing outdoors, and how my favorite bloggers seem to have a renewed purpose these days. Don't you?!

The first time I met Jeannie Mai, we were drinking wine and hanging out at our mutual friend’s house. I was on my way to BlissDom (2010) the next day and she was reorganizing her blog, so we bonded over the blogosphere…and our shared love of sass. I knew from my friends that she was a fashionista and hosted a show on the Style Network called How Do I Look? I gave her a hard time over her blue hair, but then I realized she used her wardrobe (and even hair) to emphasize her amazing personality. I’ve always trended toward basic and classic work attire and my weekend wardrobe is kind of meh, so before she left, I asked for some quick fashion advice.

Without skipping a beat, Jeannie looked at me and said with total authority:

“GET A BETTER BRA!”

I think I stuttered and tried to make some sort of comment that I was just happened to be wearing a utility bra that day, but then stopped and realized she was totally right. My bras were super boring and weren’t doing me any favors.

At the time I was a few pounds heavier and she made a comment that even skinny chicks with poor support look bigger around their middle than they really are…and that a great bra sets the foundation for a great outfit.

I went shopping immediately and totally spruced up my undergarment wardrobe.

And the next time I saw her, I flashed her my bewbies.

She approved.

And ever since, I’ve been really secure about my girls and confident about the way I look.

And I’ve named them Pride and Joy.

SO, IN HONOR OF THE FASHION ADVICE I ALWAYS FOLLOW,
I’M HAVING A VICTORIA’S SECRET GIVEAWAY!!!

Be sure to enter by Thursday, September 27, at midnight EST.

We’ll celebrate with the winner this weekend and I hope she rushes out to buy something juicy with the gift card that I purchased just for fun. This is not a sponsored giveaway…just something wild I cooked up! (For those of you who enter the RSS item, please leave your email address in the comments below so I can verify!)

Awesome idea! It is amazing how much better I feel about myself when I have the girls looking good-even if no one else sees my super cute bras ; )

  2. Jen says:

This is SO TRUE. I just looked at all of my pictures from vacation, and I am ashamed to say that I can totally tell what bra I’m wearing by how I look in the photos! I definitely need to restock my delicates drawer!

  3. Cassandra D says:

oh I can always use a good bra. especially the transitional post baby boob stage I’m currently in. they make a huge difference in my outfits.

  8. HopefulLeigh says:

I got fitted for a bra 4 or 5 years ago and it changed my life. I’d been wearing the completely wrong size for years before that!

    • Uday says:

I swear by the playtex unrwreide alternative nursing bras! I have used them through all of my nursing years and I find that they work the best for me. They aren’t very expensive either. They are also very durable, so you’re not having to buy a new one every few months!I hope this helps.References : Mom of three with one on the way.

I’ve seen so many pretty bras at Victorias Secret recently this would be a great win!

  12. kim says:

    funny you post this.
i had a self revelation about this exact thing the other day.
had a mini VS spree. and everything arrived last week.
complete with a “what the heck took me so long to get new undies” moment.
    everything looks INFINITELY better.
    hahahah.

    pick me ;)

  13. One of the best things I ever did for myself was get professionally fitted. I am so well [errr...not so well, in my opinion!] endowed I went to Nordstrom [haven't been able to fit into VS bras since high school!]. HOLY COW WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT HAS MADE IN MY LIFE!

  14. Heather says:

My husband did a double take when I got a new bra. So, I guess it really does make a difference.

  15. noelle says:

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  19. B says:

ME ME ME! Pick me! :)

  20. Katie says:

I always used to only wear VS bras, but my size has changed and money is tight, so I”ve been buying $10 target bras. Totally not the same – but all I can afford right now, so this would be amazing! :)

  21. I love this post. And for the record, I am horrible about buying bras. I’m curious – did you get fitted before you bought the new ones? Because I always hear crazy stats like 90% of women are wearing the wrong size.

  22. Aimee says:

Wait until you have kids! It gets worse! Haha!

  23. Ashley Perez says:

You know I had to enter this one!!! And I’m a huge “supporter” of VS bras (:

  24. Arianne says:

Gorge! I agree that a great bra is essential to feeling and looking great. Love your before and after!!!

  25. Renee Ronika says:

I’m committing the crime of having bras in the size below and the size above my current size, but I don’t have in possession a bra my current size (I’m post-breastfeeding and not all the way down to pre-preggo weight.). But my husband and I are in between jobs and I can’t go to VS, so here I am, leaving a comment on your blog, praying the Good Lord will pick me (!) so my girls can finally feel secure. Thank you.

  26. Melissa Dell says:

I’m a big nerd, and REALLY want to win… So I set up a reminder in Outlook. Ingenius or …. nevermind don’t answer that.

  27. Jenn says:

I’m pretty sure that’s my biggest fashion faux pas as well since I wear a strapless bra most days due to hating how straps have always fallen off my shoulders. I’ve been fitted for a bra before and I loved the bra that I was suggested but it ended up doing something weird in the wash and I never wanted to pay the big bucks to replace it.
I need this so bad so I can start looking better from my pride & joy too!!

  28. Jen says:

    Awesome giveaway! Thanks!!

  29. Tira J says:

Okay, this is hilarious! I love Jeannie and someday I wish she would come give me a fashion makeover. Next, you know that I used to work for VS, so everyone’s “bewbies” can always deserve a makeover, no matter what age bracket they fall into. And lastly, I would LOVE a new “OVER THE SHOULDER BOULDER HOLDER” XOXO

  30. i need me a new braz
