Spring Has Sprung

I love how the sun stays out longer, how colorful flowers are in bloom, and how everyone I seem to know is preggo. The vineyards bubble with activity, neighbors spend more time socializing outdoors, and how my favorite bloggers seem to have a renewed purpose these days. Don't you?!

I LIKE TO PARTY

I like blogging, so it’s no surprise that I like bloggers and talking about blogging.

This weekend, I planned a dinner party for a few local bloggers and it was so much fun that I plan to do it again and again! I intentionally decided to invite a few women over who I didn’t know well, with the exception of a couple. I also intentionally chose women with different kinds of blogs; I wanted variety…and I got it!

We talked about why we began blogging, we talked about SEO, we talked about stats, we talked about politics, religion, and sex. We ate, we laughed, we spun off onto tangents. It was perfect!

I made my walnut crusted pork chops, Pioneer Woman’s buttered rosemary rolls, wild rice with bacon and dried cranberries, and hearts of romaine with homemade ranch dressing. I set a fancy table, because that makes me incredibly happy. I even bought fresh flowers!

I made a new appetizer…that I found on Pinterest, naturally! Kara-Noel was my first guinea pig…I think she approved! ; )

We laughed about the fact that at a bloggy dinner, it’s totally fine to be on your phone. We tweeted and insta’d to our hearts’ content.

Especially, when I brought out the pièce de résistance…a marvelous cake made by my friend Grace of Cakes.

We had so much fun talking that we NEVER left the table to sit in the living room! And we didn’t even know that it was nearing midnight before they all left!

Many thanks to Laura (Hollywood Housewife), Maggie (Gussy Sews), Kara-Noel, and Andrea (For the Love Of…), and Elizabeth Esther for joining me for dinner. My first bloggy dinner party was a success because of YOU!

beautiful setting, LOVE those chairs and that cake! Oh emmm gee!
but my favorite by far is the photo – absolutely hilarious and brilliant all at once.

  3. OMG, your table is so stinking Pinterest. Didn’t you just Pinterest bash a couple posts down? You fake Pinterest hater. You ARE Pinterest.

You can put any jelly on brie almost, add some nuts, and people will think you are dang fancy. But here is my fave from my catering days: mango chutney and crumbled bacon. Trust. Me.

Your table was beautiful and your meal sounds like it was divine! You have a gift.

    Love the cake!

  5. The table looks gorgeous! Sure wish I lived closer to you:-) We could throw some fab parties! Looks like a great time.

I still can’t get over that cake! One of my favorite appetizers involves puff pastry, brie, and raspberry preserves. YUM.

  9. Arianne says:

Oh I just saw this! I looove that table and love a peek at that dress you wore! ;)

  10. What a fun idea!!! I love that you had people that you didn’t know very well. To bring them on to my home turf would be a great way to meet new people while still feeling totally comfortable. I get all socially akward at blogging events. And it doesn’t hurt that your home is gorgeous! :) Thanks for sharing this great idea!

  11. Lala says:

Love your dinner party! Nothing less than fabulous and wouldn’t expect anything less.

  12. Liz says:

I kept looking for the cake…and then realized the laptop WAS the cake! Brilliant!

  13. Katie says:

Aah! I was like, why is she posting a picture of her laptop when she was just talking about the cake? And then I realized, that IS the cake! Love!

(Don’t read too much into my confusion. Yesterday, I thought a squirrel was the world’s tiniest poodle. Clearly I need new glasses.)

  14. mandie says:

So much fun! I’ve been really wanting to do something like this (except I am so lazy and NOT a hostess at heart), but my living situation right now is not conducive to hosting anything. I’m still trying to figure something out, though, for other local bloggers!! Thanks for the inspiration, JJ! You did a beautiful job!

  15. Gussy Sews says:

SO HAPPY TO HAVE BEEN THERE, AND YES I HAVE TO WRITE THIS IN CAPS! You’re fab! You’re fun! You’re hilarious… I’m glad I was able to attend after all :)
