I Can't Sit Still

I don't know about you, but sometimes I get so excited about something new that I want to do ALL THE THINGS and do them RIGHT NOW! But I'm also in a season where I realize that slowing down and taking a breather is a good thing. It's Spring and the sun is shining here in Southern California...I need to remind myself to soak it in and experience renewal rather than just relish in the rush of daily life.

I’ve been aware of the One Word phenomenon for a while now and it always impressed me that people would be inspired by a word for an entire year.

It seemed cool and I really liked the idea.

I toyed with different words like SEEK! ADVENTURE! OPPORTUNITY!

But then I started hearing a gentle whisper in the back of my mind…and the word terrifies me.

The Lord is calling me to be with Him in a more significant way. I’m not entirely sure what my word for the year is going to mean and how it will translate in my daily life. But He’s seeking me, this year will be an adventure, and I’m sure I’ll have countless opportunities for connecting with Him.

Wish me luck!!!

    that IS a scary word!

  3. Mine does a bit too. I’m hoping to write a post about it tomorrow. Don’t forget to link up with ADS one word synchroblog!

I pray that deeper obedience will lead to deeper joy for you….though it’s scary… (hug).

  4. So proud of you. SO SO SO proud of you. You have guts.

  5. This is going to be good, friend. I believe it and I believe in you.

  6. That is a powerful word but if He’s challenging you then He must have something amazing in store for you. Be bold and courageous…He’s holding your hand!

  7. Ahhh obedience! I recently watched an interview with Charles Stanley; his guiding principal – Obey God, and leave the consequences to Him. Trust Him! He wont fail you.

  8. Katherine Willis Pershey says:

Blessings. This is a tough one for me, so I’m going to live vicariously through you this year. 😉

  9. A scary word indeed! An adventure awaits you.

  10. I’ve always admired your faith. You’re so sure of yourself, of your God. I’ve never managed to truly believe in any higher being, although not due to lack of trying. You don’t know it but I’ve actually read the Bible as well as passages of the Guru Granth Sahib , the Torah and the Qur’an , and I even attended a church for a period of time.

I really admire that you went with this word even though it scares you. I think one reason obedience is scary is that it requires giving up control. It requires tolerating the unknown and entering into the unknown. But the cool thing about obedience to God is that we don’t walk into the unknown alone. And accepting the word “obedience” despite your fear was a step in obedience itself!
